The Evil Dead trailer is very tension building, it is jam-packed with fast horrific scenes which are very effective to the audience! It doesn't give away the film too much but it leaves the audience scared, it makes you want to watch the film because the plot that you get from watching the trailer is very good. The scenes show that the film is paranormal but gruesome, and contains dark, disturbing scenes. MO
Dark Skies
The trailer 'Dark skies' creates a very tension building atmosphere to the audience as it contains many shots with low key lighting and a tension building soundtrack. It also uses short amounts of silence which then has a 'creepy' soundtrack which comes in very fast creating the attention .Certain parts of the film have clips of non diegetic sound such as the house alarm at the began which comes in very loudly making the audience jump and creating the impression that the horror is a very jumpy which is what the audience loves. The main shots are filmed in there family house which follow the idea of the theorist Wes Cravens Theory who states the creational theory of bad things happening in safe places e.g hospitals and homes. The use of a young child is very effective as audience engages and is feared by the sites of young children been seen as the 'killer' in horrors. The soundtrack fades in with a basic piano melody which seems to get sightly faster this automatically gives the audience an idea that something bad is going to come out of this, this is a typical source of soundtrack which most horros tend to use. Mama
The teaser trailer for 'Mama' is shown to be a dark film which creates tension and an uncomfortable atmosphere. The use of the different locations helps to suggest that the film is different and unique compared to other paranormal films . The use of the deserted forest and cabin suggests loneliness which relates to the fact that the children used in the trailer were left by their mothers which then helps to create and uneasy atmosphere. The use of quick, fast shots suggests that the film is tension building and fast passing. Using young children as the main victims to 'Mama' suggest venerability and loss of innocence. It also creates different emotions for different people for example parents would be slightly more emotional than teenagers. The sound track itself suggest danger and that something bad is going to happen. Right at the beginning of the trailer for 'Mama' the sound track is presented as quite mysterious and makes you wonder why the cabin is deserted and leaves questions going in your mind. The use of the close up on the old babys shoe suggests that the film is related to children and this also helps to relate back to the title of 'Mama' in other words she is a demon mother. A mid shot of one of the 'forest children' is shown to be quite disturbing and distressing to certain audience members. The 'forest child' is presented in this disturbing mannor to show that they were brought up in the forest and not in a friendly atmosphere as they were left in the wilderness for 5 years to survive on their own so aren't use to other peoples company. Fast pace shots help to make the trailer more understanding. Even though trailers aren't suppose to make complete sense it is easy to tell what the story line is about but doesn't give away much of the plot so it still makes it grabbing and makes you want to go and see the actual film itself. The last Exorcism
The Last exorcism teaser trailer is one of the main inspirations that inspired us to create a teaser trailer similar to this. The use of different shots throughout this trailer helped to enhance the aspect of horror. The way the the shots are put together also help to show that the blonde innocent girl is being possessed. The use of a blonde young innocent girl is of typical horror conventions suggesting that this is very common and using a stereotypical blonde girl as the main victim shows innocences and vunrablility. The use of the quick paste shots are effective as it doesn't give much away. They give us a good idea of what the storyline behind it is. The non diagetic soundtrack may be simple but is very much effective. it creates a tension building atmosphere and allows the audience to be on the edge of their seats. It creates a very sinister atmosphere with a hint of mystery to it, which makes us want to watch it as we want to know what that mystery is. The cracking sound effect used in the trailer is very effective and and makes it sound and look very realistic.
